What is this?
I’ve on and off journaled for the better part of 10 years, a practice that started at the behest of my therapist. I’ve continued this practice because it helps me organize and make sense of my thoughts.
My dear friend Elliott (inspired by the brilliant and talented Brian) introduced me to the idea of a digital garden about a month ago. Brian’s garden references “the brainrot survival guide”, a ~30 minute video that made a lot of salient points about the modern deterioration of attention and focus. This video elucidates actionable steps we should all take to reclaim control of our brains, broken into 5 parts:
- Scroll with a goal
- Bullshit Proof Vest
- Mission McClued In
- Algorithmic Resistance
- Man Plans and Rod Laughs
Creating a digital garden was part of the algorithmic resistance step in the survival guide.
In the past, I’ve tried and failed to start a blog (with a record setting 3 posts ever made), and I’ve always been looking for a push to try again with a higher level of commitment. This lingering desire, two friends I really admire and respect committing, and a deep feeling of resonance with the brainrot survival guide have led me to create this space.
The intended audience here is family and very close friends, but if you don’t fall into one of those categories and have found this, please stick around!
This is, for all intents and purposes, a digital garden. I’ve decided to call mine a cave instead of a garden, for reasons you can read about on my about page.
Check my friends gardens, they’ve been tending to them for longer!
Don't stop now, you're almost out of the cave!
