A note for my father

The greatest myth perpetuated by society is that a dog is man’s best friend. I understand why someone would think this, but I simply think there are better alternatives. When someone gets a dog they are getting something fiercely loyal, oblivious to their faults, and a perennially available sponge for their thoughts and attention.

Those people clearly don’t have a dad like I do! Let me sell you on how my dad beats a dog any day of the week.

• Fiercely loyal? That’s him!
• Oblivious to my faults? He’s well aware of them, and helps me make up for them!
• Perennially available sponge? He’s taken my calls during meetings before, he almost needs to be less available!

For this Father’s Day, I want to try an interactive gift. I’m getting us matching mugs, and as a blatant excuse to talk every day, I want us to alternate coming up with jokes. These can be typical “dad jokes,” inside jokes between us, or just something one of us thinks will make the other person laugh.
